This week, we're chatting with Reconcile CEO Jaimin Desai, a founder in our Grand Central Tech residency fall 2022 cohort.

1. Describe what you’re building in 10 words or fewer.

We help retail investors pay less tax on their capital gains.

2. Let’s assume your company achieves your current, fullest ambitions for it — what about your industry and the world do you hope changes as a result?

We hope to enable every taxpayer to legally take advantage of all the deductions, credits, and avoidance strategies that the IRS has to offer. If we can save every taxpayer on average $5,000, that means we’ll have put at least $500 billion back into their pockets to reinvest, pay down their debt or take that dream vacation!

Everything bagel with jalapeno cream cheese

4. What do you love about New York City, and what makes it a good place to launch a business?

I love how fast-paced and active the city is. There’s never a dull moment and always something new to do at any time of the day! For a business owner, it’s a terrific place to attract the best talent and to land deals with major financial services companies.

5. What’s your favorite ‘secret’ about New York?

Most New Yorkers are actually very friendly counter to perception

6. What do you think is the single biggest innovation we'll see within our lifetimes?

Humans turning into cyborgs

7. What’s your favorite movie or TV show that takes place in New York City?

White collar

8. What motto do you live by?

Help billions of people make millions. I’m all about uplifting the bottom half of society into achieving financial freedom.

Turning food waste into compost in minutes instead of months
